Little Fritter - Keep It Raw (EP)

Label resident Little Fritter delivers a big comeback with Keep It Raw!

James Hunter - Kabiko (EP)

another Deep House highlight from the Brisbane (Australia) based Producer/DJ!

Review on Juno Download

Affin continues to impress by operating at the edge of house and techno, and Kabiko is more of the same. The title track is house music at its most out there; shaking castanets and a pitched down vocal intoning phrases like 'house music' and 'here we go again' accompany woozy, druggy chords to a tripped out climax. "Doctor Says" sees Hunter come back down to earth with a drummy, slamming groove that is in line with Affin's techno leanings. However, it seems that house music is on the menu for this release and "The Clown Is Down", with its mixture of forceful bass and jazzy keys, is just right for deep house heads.

Chris Page - Drivetrain (EP)

Londons Chris Page makes his third appearance on Affin, delivering a solid 3 tracks. This time showcasing a deeper more melodic side, while still maintaining a dark, raw quality that runs through all his productions.
Derailleur opens the EP, chopping between a standard 4/4, sometimes dipping into a broken beat. Deep chords wash over a strange metallic bed of noise, punctuated by rough, off beat percussion. Cassette expands on what Derailleur started. Dimming the lights while still providing a light with punctuating stabs of melody, over driven claps and eerie noises. Shifter ups the pace with a driving, raw feel. Its rough bass filling the track under charging percussion and crisp hats. Berlin based, Birmingham raised, Rebekah, provides a solid, heads down take on Derailleur. Opting to expand on its rhythms and turn in a dark, pacey, driving take on the original. Solid techno.

Jurek Przezdziecki - Full Tone [EP]

Jurek Przezdziecki surprises us with another & new release of his well known distinctive style. Fulltone EP consists of five original tunes. By neo - classical chords ("Sinfonietta") and whole-tone scale harmonies ("Fulltone Rendez Vous"), Jurek leads us to the contemporary ballroom where the tasty house dishes are waiting ("End Of June", "Costa Del Mol"). Finally it's time for a killer dessert cooked from "End Of June" by Adam Marshall - simply a dancefloor bomb remix! It's a unique position in eclectic catalog of Affin Records, undoubtedly.

Jack Wang - My only issue as a radio DJ is: How the hell am I going to pronounce his last
name on the air? I guess I'll have to go with "Jurek P". As for the EP itself? It's really quite fun, a lot of wacky & unconventional but highly entertaining electronics over some good house beats! The best tracks are #1 (End of June) and #3 (Sinfonietta), and #2 (Adam Marshall's remix of End of June) is also quite good. 1. Funky deep-house with a catchy bassline and cheery little loops. Tasty fun. 2. Drier and crispier remix of #1 where congas and other percussion feature prominently. The bassline is removed from the original and replaced with punchy beats. 3. Super-punchy kickin' drums here! The breaks are accentuated with huge synth chords. I can feel the air swooshing from the hard-hitting beats. I love this track down to the little analog effects. 4. Wild and wacky with lots of nervy warbles and effects and a really space-y theatrical sci-fi organ. Weird and yet fun at the same time. 5. Really spacey and loopy synths with a bumpin' house tempo. It's an unconventional house track but highly entertaining. Reviewed by Jack@KZSU Stanford University Radio KZSU 90.1FM See reviews on http://zookeeper.stanford.edu

Remixes of the original coming from Niereich & Paul Boex. EP closing with “New Beginnings”, another floorfiller, so the end seems to be just the begin of something special.
